Red Blood Cells

The red blood cell is known as erythrocytes.

These are round, flat discs with no nucleus.

They are formed in the bone marrow and they are released into the blood. The hemoglobin in the blood contains iron which combines with oxygen from the lungs to form oxy-hemoglobin.
