Aquatic and Terrestrial Environments

The whole earth can be separated into the terrestrial and aquatic environments. The terrestrial being the land which serves as habitat or homes for terrestrial organisms, including man. The aquatic environment being the part of the earth made up of water. The ocean forms part of the aquatic environment. It forms over 71% of the earth's surface.

In spite of this, the majority of all described animal species are non-marine.
