A system of lever was used to lift a load of 100N when an effort of 50N was applied to it. Calculate the mechanical advantage of the system

SOLUTION

Mechanical advantage = Load / Effort M.A = 1000N / 50N = 20 B. A machine lifted a load of mass 20kg with an effort of 2N. Calculate the mechanical advantage of the machine. [g=10ms-²]

SOLUTION

Load = mass x acceleration due to gravity

= 20kg x 10ms- ²

M.A = Load / Effort

 = 200N / 2N
 = 100
