Factors that Influence Vegetation
I) CLIMATE:
Rainfall and temperature are the main elements that affect the distribution of vegetation In Ghana. Areas with low rainfall have savannah vegetation and those with high rainfall have evergreen rainforests. High temperatures also influence the distribution of vegetation. Plants need sunshine for photosynthesis. Plants like the oak tree and cedar do not grow in Ghana because of high temperatures.
II) SOIL:
The type of soil affects the vegetation of a place. Rich soil supports forest vegetation. Salty and water-logged soils support the growth of mangroves and swamps.
III) HUMAN ACTIVITY
A variety of human activities influence the vegetation. Periodic bush burning, uncontrolled livestock grazing, construction works, farming, logging, etc. destroy vegetation. There is always more vegetation in places
