John Dalton (1766-1844)

John Dalton’s work led him to closely study gases and what Air was made out of. This eventually built his interest in atmospheric pressure and the formulation of the “Dalton Law.” He insisted that the different forms of matter were made up of small individual particles which he labeled as Atoms (a term he borrowed from previous work on theories of state of matter).


He also researched on color-blindness (a condition he and his brother were born with). He could not perceive the colour green and sought to understand the red-green colour blindness condition referred to as “Daltonism
