Factors that Influence Rapid Development

Societies can develop rapidly through various factors. These are:

i. Education:

This helps people to acquire knowledge on new and easy ways of doing things. It has helped us know some of the consequences from some outmoded cultural practices such as widowhood rites, female genital mutilation, tribal marks among others. Some of these practices cause death, transmit diseases, time wasting among others. People who die from these practices or time wasted practicing these cultures, can be used to work for the development of the country. The government also invests a lot of money into educating people on the effects of some of these cultures. These monies can be used to develop the society.

ii. Inventions:

This is the act of inventing something new. Some new ways of doing things have been discovered and these things have helped work become easier and faster. New farming processes are now practiced by farmers who used to farm with hoes and cutlasses. Tractors are used for farming, these help the farmers to farm big farmlands and has increased their crop yield. Increased crop yield brings money to farmers. These farmers can develop their society when they have enough money. Inventions such as televisions, mobile phones, computers etc have helped people to acquire more information about the consequences of some of these cultural practices. This has reduced the practices of these cultures. Good practices promote the development of the society.

iii. Visionary leaders such as Nelson Mandela:

These are leaders who think or plan the future with wisdom. They have original ideas that can help develop the society. The decisions of every leader has great influence on a lot of people. Their visions can promote or slow development. Every society must have visionary leaders to help them develop faster. They have some characters that help them in their duties. These are; good communication skills, good manners, good organizers among others.

iv. Investment in research:

Researches are investigations done in order to develop or discover new things or ways of doing things. Every new discovery made promote society development. Developed countries spend a lot of monies in their researches. They always find new ways of doing things. These help in developing their societies.

v. Travelling to other countries:

This is one of the fastest ways of developing a society. People who travel to other countries learn some foreign ways of doing things. They bring some of these foreign inventions into the country. These help develop the country faster and easier. A typical example is Tetteh Quarshie, he brought cocoa from Fernandopo in 1879. Cocoa is one of the highest exports in Ghana and this earns the country a lot of money for development.

vi. Trading with other countries:

This is the buying and selling of goods between countries. Ghana trade with other countries for foreign exchange, when they do not have needed resources to satisfy its citizens or when they do not have the resources needed. The goods imported are sometimes used to develop the society. The money from these trades are used to develop the society.
