Mountains

A mountain is a landform that rises high above the surrounding terrain in a limited area. They are made from rocks and earth. Generally, mountains are higher than 600metres. Those less than 600metres are called hills.

Types of Mountains

Mountains are normally classified according to the way in which they were formed. They are:

i. Fold mountains

ii. Fault-block mountains ( Block mountains)

iii. Volcanic mountains

iv. Residual mountains
